Olympian Tatjana Schoenmaker wins Forbes Woman Africa Sports Award

South Africa's golden girl Tatjana Schoenmaker has been awarded the Forbes Woman Africa Sports Award for her notable success in swimming.

Tatjana Schoenmaker, world record holder and Olympic medalist, was awarded The Forbes Woman Africa Sports Award.

The swimmer claimed South Africa's first Olympic gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 by winning the women's 200m breaststroke final, setting a new world record in the process. 

The 24-year-old touched the wall in a time of 2:18.95.

Schoenmaker made history by becoming the first South African female swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal since Penny Heyns at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
