South African actress to star alongside Viola Davis in new movie

Thuso Mbedu, the Emmy-nominated South African actress, is expected to turn many heads in 2021.

The actress has starred in several South African productions like 'Scandal!', 'Isibaya', and 'Saints and Sinners', and will soon be seen in the upcoming series, 'The Underground Railroad'. 

Thuso started trending at number two in South Africa after the news broke that the she will be starring alongside Viola Davis in 'The Woman King'. 

On her Instagram page, the actress said: “Those who know, know 😩🤞🏾Let’s dooooo iiiiiiiiit! What an honor! 
#TheWomanKing”.

The historical epic film is inspired by the true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story follows Nanisca, general of the all-female military unit, and Nawi, an ambitious recruit, who together fought enemies who threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.

We all know Viola Davis from 'How To Get Away With Murder' and she became the first black actor to achieve the 'Triple Crown of Acting', which means she has won an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony! 

South Africans couldn't contain their excitement at the news!
