Many people can't wait to put 2020 behind them. The coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on people's health, careers, and travel plans.

While there is a lot that is out of people's control, there are things they can work on to help make their lives better.

2021 won't be any better if you take any of the following bad habits into the new year with you.

Say goodbye to self-doubt

Self-doubt can help you recognise the areas of your life you need to improve, but many people often become so consumed by it that they cannot make any progress.  A lack of confidence can affect many areas of your life, particularly your career. Confidence in the workplace is important, as it could be the difference between getting promoted and staying in the same position for years. Don't compare yourself to others, don't worry what other people think, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Stop being a Negativity Nancy

One of the best ways to help improve your mental health is to stop being a Negative Nancy. Being negative about everything can put a damper on your mood. It can also lead to stress and anxiety. Whenever a negative thought pops into your head, think of a thought to counter the negativity. Surrounding yourself with positive people can also help put you in a happier headspace.

Get out of your comfort zone

Let 2021 be the year you face your fears head on. Many people are afraid to apply for their dream job or trying new things because they are afraid of failing. Change your mindset and recognise that failure is a healthy part of life. You can learn many lessons from your failures.

Stop comparing yourself to others

Comparing yourself to others can make you miss all the great things that are happening in your own life. Your life might not be going as great as you would like it to, but as the famous quote goes "comparison is the thief of joy”.

Stop waiting for the right moment

A lot of people are holding themselves back from doing certain things because they are waiting for the right moment. The right moment might never come - do it now. Don't wait for Monday or the start of a new month or new year to do the things you want to do.
