Karlien furious about 'Wil jy vry' music video that features underage kids

Afrikaans singer Karlien van Jaarsveld distanced herself from Precision Music who used one of her songs in a music video without her consent.

According to Karlien's instagram post, the song 'Wil jy vry' was recorded as part of her 2010 debut album, 'As die gordyn val'. The album was later repackaged with the title 'Jakkals trou met wolf se vrou'. 

The singer further states the the song 'Wil jy vry' was specifically removed because she and her team felt that it didn't represent herself and the brand she was building. Precision Music recently made a music video, in which young boys and girls play the characters in the song. Watch it here.

The 'Rooilipsoene' singer has expressed her anger and disgust with this music video, asking what innocent and underage children has to do with a song with such a title and subject matter.

Ek distansieer myself totaal en al van ‘n video wat vandag, tot my skok, vrygestel is deur Precision Music. Ek is uiters teleurgesteld in hierdie video wat saamgestel is sonder my medewete en toestemming.  Ek wil ‘n beroep doen op my vriende en ondersteuners om hierdie inisiatief nie te ondersteun nie. Die lied, WIL JY VRY, was vrygestel op my debuut album, AS DIE GORDYN VAL, in 2010.  Hierdie produk is later herverpak en die titel het verander na ‘Jakkals trou met wolf se vrou’. Ons het spesifiek hierdie lied afgehaal omdat ons gevoel het dat dit nie verteenwoordigend is van waar ek in die mark geplaas moet word nie.  Ek sal graag van die vervaardigers en Precision Music wil weet wat is die verband tussen minderjarige, onskuldige kinders met ‘n titel en tema soos WIL JY VRY ‘n song waarmee ek nooit gemaklik gevoel het nie en juis afgehaal met die herverpakking??? Hierdie is absurd en ‘n goedkoop manier van kapitaliseer.  Dit skep verwarring in baie opsigte.  1.  Ek is ‘n ma van 3 kinders (wat ek nie was in 2010 nie) en die voorstelling hiervan is onsmaaklik en totaal en al onvanpas.  2.  Dit skep die indruk by die publiek, radio en media dat dit ‘n nuwe snit is terwyl dit reeds in 2010 opgeneem is en daarna besluit is om die lied af te haal met die herverpakking van ‘Jakkals trou met wolf se vrou’. 3.  Gebasseer op kommentare wat ek reeds gesien het aanvaar mense dat hierdie inisiatief my goedkeuring wegdra wat dit beslis nie doen nie.  Ek vra omverskoning indien dit enige van my vriende en ondersteuners wat dit reeds gesien het, verwar of ontstel het.  Glo asseblief dat ek hierdie inisiatief hoegenaamd nie ondersteun nie.

Many of van Jaarsveld's supporters commented on this post with messages of support and agreeing with the singer, that the music video is inappropriate as it uses underage children. 

The latest official music video Karlien released was, 'Rooilipsoene'. The video features her husband, Joe Breytenbach and actress Simone Nortman.
