Tshwane protestors threaten total shutdown
Updated | By Laila Majiet & Slindelo Masikane
Tshwane protestors have threatened to shut down the area.
They're demanding Kgosientso "Sputla" Ramokgopa be named as the ANC's Tshwane mayoral candidate for the local government election on 3 August.
Violent protests broke out in the region on Monday night.
At least 20 buses were torched and streets barricaded with burning tyres.
Police have been deployed to the area.
It comes after the ANC yesterday confirmed that former Public Works minister Thoko Didiza as the party's Tshwane mayoral candidate for the upcoming election.
Protestors spoke to JacaNews about the reasons for their actions.
