Former Miss World, Rolene Straus was one of many South African celebrities who cast their ballots in the 2016 Municipal Elections on Wednesday.


Rolene posted a picture of her inked thumb with the following caption: "For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others." #ProudlySouthAfrican #yourvotecounts.


The municipal elections got of to a slow star but gained momentum as the morning progressed with politicians, celebrities and ordinary citizens making their mark.

DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane voted in Roodepoort this morning while the Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela also made her mark.

Afrikaans singer, Riana Nel posted her #iVoted selfie on instagram after casting her ballot earlier.
