With Hollywood and the world holding  its breath as we get ready for the 2017 Oscar nominations it comes as no surprise that La La Land is likely to be the clear frontrunner, but here is what you should look out for.

The question is not if the romantic musical will get nominated, but rather how many nominations it will receive.


The current record of 14 nominations is being held by Titanic and All About Eve while Mary Poppins is the most nominated musical with 13.


Natalie Portman is sure to go head to head against Emma Stone for her portrayal of John F Kennedy's widow in Jackie.


Other contenders:


Other movies that are sure contenders will include Moonlight, Manchester By The Sea and Arrival, while the Casey Affleck and Denzel Washington are tipped to give Ryan Gosling a run for his money in the Best Actor category.


After two years with no black acting nominees, this year we could see four or five.
