Tributes pour in for popular Pretoria entertainer who was shot dead

Tributes pour in for popular Pretoria comedian and DJ Peter 'Mashata' Mabuse who was gunned down in Soshanguve, Pretoria.

Popular Pretoria comedian and DJ Peter 'Mashata' Mabuse has died. 

Mashata, who was also an announcer at Mamelodi Sundowns games, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning in a hail of bullets.

He was killed after he finished a performance in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria. According to his gig guide posted on Facebook, the popular DJ was booked to perform at Roof Top Avenue on Sunday, 21 April.

Photos of Mabuse's bakkie which he was gunned down in have been trending on social media. 

Sundowns released a statement after his passing. 

“The chairman and the Motsepe family, the board of directors, technical team, players, management, staff, supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC, and the entire Yellow Nation, express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of the multi-talented Peter “Mashata” Mabuse, who served as an announcer at the Mamelodi Sundowns games. We pray that the almighty comforts and strengthens the Mabuse family, his fans, friends, and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and every one that was touched by his talent, entertainment, and laughter. Robala Ka Kgotso [rest in peace] Mashata – The Msindo [noise] Maker.”
