16 Days of Activism: Petition to get govt to address GBV
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A humanitarian group says it won't entertain empty promises by the government during this year's 16 Days of Activism Campaign of No Violence against Women and Children.

The annual awareness campaign kicks off on Thursday.
Change.Org has started a petition and will be laying a formal complaint against the Presidency on what it sees as the lack of political will to combat gender-based violence.
Lee-Anne Germanos says women in the country have been raising their hands and voices against violence.
Still, one in five women are victims.
She says government needs to ramp up its response to end gender-based violence.
"Basically, it says to us that government doesn't respect or even concern itself with acknowledging the outcry of the public. That the dignity and the life of women are not a concern.
"That's what it means to me when nothing is truly being done about gender-based violence and femicide and when we are appealing to you, as a public, and you completely ignore us."
