17 suspects nabbed following Pretoria CBD chaos

Gauteng police have arrested 17 suspects in connection with the unrest in the CBD on Tuesday.
Taxi drivers, police and foreign nationals clashed after several shops were looted and set alight.
Ten suspects have been arrested for possession of suspected stolen property, while seven others were nabbed for public violence.

Drivers retaliated after one of their own was shot dead on Tuesday by an alleged drug lord in the area.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says they are engaging with taxi operators.

“A commitment has been made that police will look into the allegations and has assured the taxi industry that feedback will be given in a short space of time.”
