Hostel fire kills 3 in Tzaneen
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
Three people, including a 2-year-old child, have been killed in a fire at the Talana hostel in Tzaneen, Limpopo.

All three victims were burnt beyond recognition.
The blaze broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning and also left several other people homeless.
Spokesperson for the Mopani District Municipality, Witness Tiva, says the cause of the fire is not known.
"On arrival we found there was a blaze but fortunately we managed to put out the blaze. As and when we continued with our search and rescue operations we discovered three victims and one of the victims is a 2-year-old child. The executive mayor Nkakareng Rakgoale is also here to give support to the rescue teams that are here and also talk to community members on assistance that the Mopani District Municipality will be bringing to assist the situation.
Tiva says police are on the scene.
"We have handed over the scene to the members of the South African Police Service who have already started with their investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire."
The exact number of people affected by the fire also needs to be determined, says Tiva.
"A number of people have been left displaced. We are doing an assessment to establish how many people are affected exactly so we can bring them some form of relief."
