9 killed in Free State crash

Nine people, including five foreign nationals, have been killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles on the R74 between Harrismith and Qwaqwa in the Free State.
The crash occurred on Sunday evening.
Free State Spokesperson for Department Police, Roads and Transport Hillary Mophethe says the cars crashed when one attempted to overtake into oncoming traffic.
The victims include seven adults and two children.

Free State emergency services spokesperson Sipho Towa says they were dispatched to the scene at 11pm on Sunday.
“On arrival, two vehicles were involved, a Navara double cab and a Subaru SUV. Unfortunately, all the occupants involved were declared dead on scene.
“The Navara had four occupants and the Subaru had five occupants.”
The victims in one of the cars included four foreign nationals from Canada and one Zimbabwean national.
