Acting mayors appointed in Limpopo
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Mayors in Limpopo, who have been axed due to their links to
the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, have stepped down from office without a fight.

The part recalled seven of its mayors in Vhenda, Makhado, Collins Chabane, Lepelele in Peter Mukabi, Giyani, Greater-Feta Kgomo and Ephraim Mogale on Tuesday.
African National Congress (ANC) provincial spokesperson Donald Selamolela confirmed on Friday that acting mayors have been inaugurated while a permanent solution is being found.
"We have a committee that we'll ensure that we don't create any vacuum and then as we engage on our processes to replace these particular mayors in the meantime we will appoint acting mayors," Selamolela says.

The municipalities of Makhado and Collins Chabane already have acting mayors.
Selamolela says the process of recalling the mayors was a peaceful process.
"It is something very humble. All of them have completely accepted the decision to step down. There is no grumbling all the mayors have agreed with the ANC that in the interest of the ANC, in the interest of the people of Limpopo, in the interest of the municipality where they are based it is prudent for them to step aside.”
