PARLIAMENT DEBATES MARIKANA REPORT - Parliament is busy debating the Farlam Commission of Inquiry's Marikana report. EFF leader Julius Malema says the killing of mineworkers was pre-meditated, and that it was planned by politicians who are still in government...



The ANC's Francois Beukman says they are taking the findings and recommendations of the report seriously and President Zuma is applying his mind to the recommendations...



Meanwhile, the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa is confident of securing claims against government and police, as the families of Marikana miners killed in 2012 lodge their civil claims. 


The institute is representing the families and assisting them to get compensation for the massacre. 


Nomzamo Zondo, head of litigation at the centre, says police will have a difficult time disputing the actions of their members...


 


EDUCATION ADDRESSES EXAM COPYING - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says learners implicated in the group copying scandal in 2014 were subjected to 'assisted suicide'. 


Motshekga added that learners implicated in the scandal had their results nullified and learners will be permitted to write the examination this year during the matric exams sitting.
