The family of slain hip-hop star Kiernan ‘AKA Forbes has warned South Africans not to make what they call “dangerous statements” on social media.
CCTV footage of the hip hop star getting shot and killed along Florida road in Durban on Friday has been doing the rounds on social media.
The video, which has is widely circulated by social media users, has ultimately led most of his fans drawing up their own conclusions about those who were with AKA on the night he was shot and killed.
Well-known music executive Nota, whose real name is Nhlamulo Baloyi, blamed the late star’s close associates for his death.
They include Saso, DJ Feel, Don Design & Scorpio Siya.
But AKA’s father Tony Forbes has rubbished the claims, urging social media users to refrain from making such statements.
“We do not condone what has been said about his friends and those making dangerous statements. And we appeal for them to desist from doing so.”
Forbes also came out in defense of AKA’s close associates, saying that they have been near the family since his death in Durban.
“The close friends that he has, they have been at our side just like they have been with him since Friday evening.”
Details of AKA’s memorial service and funeral have been released.
He will be remembered at an event at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday.
His funeral will take place in a private provincial ceremony on Saturday.
