The matter was postponed to September 15 for further investigations, their lawyer Christo van As said.
The couple was out on bail of R3000 each.
Magistrate Elmarie Schutte changed their previous bail conditions, which required them to report to a police station every Saturday. The couple is no longer required to do that.
In May, The Star reported that the couple was arrested after the medical staff at the Linmed Netcare Hospital, who had been treating their child for bronchitis, alerted authorities to the infant's injuries.
The baby, who was seven weeks old at the time, had three broken ribs, a fractured knee and brain injuries.
