Alleged child kidnapper appears in court
The 24-year-old woman, who was arrested on Wednesday after being
found with an unidentified child, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates
Court on Friday.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says officers responded to a call of a woman carrying a child in a plastic bag on Wedneday.
“In that that plastic bad was a child who was crying, onion and potatoes,” says Makhubele.
He adds when police arrived at the scene that 24-year-old woman could not explain where the child came from.
“The baby was taken to hospital, she [the woman] was also arrested.”
Makhubele says the woman is facing charges of abduction.
Police investigations are continuing.
