Alleged kidnapper to appear in court
A-32-year-old domestic worker is expected to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on charges of kidnapping, illegal immigration, extortion and human trafficking.
The woman, who cannot be named until she pleads, allegedly kidnapped a three-year-old child she was hired to look after.
The child was allegedly taken out of South Africa to Mozambique and was held for a ransom of R500,000 for more than a month.
A police task team arrested the woman in Gauteng last week.
The child has been reunited with the parents in East London.
