ANC confirms murder-accused MP Sibusiso Kula ‘steps aside’
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The ANC Member of Parliament Sibusiso Kula has agreed to step aside from all North West provincial activities after being charged with the murder of his wife Jennifer Mothlomi.
Mothlomi was found with a stab wound in her back in November last year.
Kula appeared in the Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The North West High Court granted him R50 000 bail following his appeal on the Orkney Magistrate’s Court decision to deny him bail.
ANC provincial spokesperson Tumelo Maruping has confirmed that Kula has agreed to step aside.
“We have since written to comrade Sibusiso Kula communicating on the resolutions of our national conference with regards to stepping aside and he has also responded to us through his lawyers and has agreed to step aside.
“Comrade Sibusiso Kula will no longer participate in the activities of the ANC in the province. At the level of the province, we have implemented that resolution.”
The matter has been postponed to Wednesday for Kula’s attorney to present an application to oppose further postponement on the matter.
