ANC denies stoking violent protests in Tembisa

The ANC in Ekurhuleni has denied claims that the party is stoking the violent community protests in Tembisa, east of Johannesburg.
Residents angry at the high cost of basic services barricaded roads with burning tyres and set ablaze a municipal building.
Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell were also in the community’s crosshairs after she failed to show up at Friday’s community meeting.
At least two people were killed on Monday, allegedly at the hand of the police.
The whip of the ANC caucus in Ekurhuleni Jongizizwe Dlabathi said the DA-led government is shifting blame.
“I want to dismiss these allegations as untrue in fact last week on Thursday on the council meeting, as a leader of the ANC, I dismissed them directly to the executive mayor.
“It’s clear that the leadership of the city, led by the DA, is abandoning its responsibility and rather wanting to push the blame to the ANC.
“We have accepted that we are in opposition, we will never incite vandalism of infrastructures which was built by the ANC government.”
