ANC extends NEC meeting

The African National Congress announced that they will be extending their National Executive Committee meeting until today.

Leadership met at the St George's Hotel in Irene the past weekend to discuss issues within the party and while the meeting was scheduled to end on Sunday the party released a statement saying that it had been extended to today.


According to reports a motion for President Jacob Zuma to step down was tabled during the meeting but Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe has remained mum on the reports.


Meanwhile the ANC's Integrity Committee has asked to have meeting with President Jacob Zuma, to discuss the state of the party.

Party stalwarts and veterans have been very critical at the direction the party is taking especially the dismal at the recent local government elections.


President Zuma is scheduled to meet the party's integrity committee on the 3rd of December, chaired by Andrew Mlangeni. 


The stalwarts have written document titled "For the Sake of our Future" decrying the state of the ANC. Now the integrity committee has asked to meet the under ANC President.


Party Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says the meeting has been called to discuss the state of the party and not just President Zuma's leadership.


Mantashe has also conveyed the party's condolences to the late Cuban leader, Fidel Castro who died at the weekend.
