The ANC Caucus in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature held its first Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting since the national and provincial government elections in May.

Khumalo says as the party engaged in door to door campaigns the message was clear among the citizen of the province that they were unhappy with state of affairs in the province.

Khumalo says the PEC has agreed to look at three pillars to ensure the party regains voter confidence in the province.

“The first priority we agreed on, is that we need to look at is economic transformation and job creation. Primary because many of our people out there would have said to the ANC, we do not have jobs,” says Khumalo.

The second  priority the party will focus on according to Khumalo is education skills and health, lastly consolidating the social wage through reliable and quality-based services, a special integration and unsettlement.

Khumalo says post the 2019 elections the governing party in the province does not have space for rhetoric anymore.

He adds the ANC took the decision that there will be a two-year program committee in legislature to hold provincial government accountable.

“What are saying is that we cannot for five years to come, in the next two years we want to see tangible changes un particular the commitments the primer will be making on the first.”
