ANC insists staff have been paid their salaries

ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile says the party has paid staff their long-awaited salaries.
The announcement comes just a day after union Nehawu said it had filed papers at the Labour Court to force the ANC to pay staffers their outstanding wages.
Staff at the ANC’s Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg claim they have not been paid since October last year.
But Mashatile told the media in Soweto on Thursday that all salaries have been paid in full.
“The ANC staff has been paid for the last five years so I don’t know what assurance they need. It may have been late once or twice, but they have been paid full salaries, bonuses even during the Covid-19 pandemic when companies were retrenching, we never did.
“When companies were asking staff to cut their salaries we never did. We have paid staff until the end of January so why must I come here and assure everybody I am going to pay salaries for the next two years?
“They will be paid when they are supposed to be paid, if we are late because we are waiting for funds, we will tell them so let’s leave it there,” said Mashatile.
