The African National Congress (ANC) in Parliament has condemned MP Makhosi Khoza’s latest utterances about her parliamentary vote.

In a statement released by the Chief Whip’s office, the party says her comments amount to extreme ill-discipline.

Khoza earlier  said that she would vote however she sees fit during the motion of no confidence against President, Jacob Zuma, on the 8th of August.

Chief Whip spokesperson, Nonceba Mhlauli, says Khoza’s comments are contrary to what the party has already stated.

“The Chief Whip finds her utterances rather unfortunate, worrisome and of great concern. We have gone on record numerous occasions stating we will not vote with the opposition to remove the President of the ANC and the government out of office,” says Mhlauli.

Political parties have been given until the 17th of July to submit their views with regards to the secret ballot to Speaker, Baleka Mbete.

Mhlauli says Khoza has bypassed the ANC caucus when she wrote to the Speaker on the matter.

“We found out via the media that comrade Khoza has written to the Speaker regarding the secret ballot. Her actions are strange. It appears comrade Khoza has defined herself outside of the collective of the ANC parliamentary caucus,” she says.
