ANC to probe Zuma spy allegations

The African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule says the party won’t treat former president Jacob Zuma’s allegations that the party is infiltrated with apartheid spies lightly.

During his first day of testimony at the commission of inquiry into state capture on Monday, Zuma said some spies were planted within the governing party to work with the apartheid government.

He went as far as to name former public service and administration minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi, who has since denied the claims.

Ramatlhodi is one of the people who implicated Zuma, alleging that he had auctioned the country through state capture.

Magashule told the media that the party will discuss the allegations.

"It will be a collective discussion, it can't be an Ace Magashule SG matter. There are people who are saying we must have our own commission, the ANC has created all these things and talk about what President Zuma has said. I'm sure we’ll discuss as the ANC."

Magashule said he doesn't want to pre-empt whether or not the allegations made by Zuma are true or not.
