ANC reclaims mayoral position in Nelson Mandela Bay

The ANC has reclaimed the mayoral
position in Nelson Mandela Bay after Eugene Johnson beat DA mayoral candidate
Nqaba Bhanga by a solitary vote.
Johnson was announced as the party's mayoral pick this weekend.
Former speaker, the ANC’s Buyelwa Mafaya, was elected deputy mayor.
Meanwhile, Gary van Niekerk of the Northern Alliance, which won three seats, was elected as council speaker, beating off Rano Kayser of the DA.
The new kids on the block won three seats during the local government election.
