ANC too broken to be fixed: Makhosi Khoza
Updated | By Laila Majiet
ANC MP Makhosi Khoza has quit the governing party, which she has been a part of since childhood.
The outspoken MP had been facing disciplinary action over her public criticism of President Jacob Zuma.
She made the announcement at Lilliesleaf Farm in Johannesburg on Thursday.
"I am not giving them the easy way out, I think I would be able to fight correctly because I will not be subject to directionless directives that we've been getting. In any case they were going to fire me."
Khoza says the ANC is no more.
"I knew that there is no more ANC. The ANC is broken, too broken to be fixed."
She describes the governing party as a "new alien", corrupt in its dealings.
Khoza says the ANC's loss of key metros provided a key moment for the party to self-correct, however in her views it failed to capitalise on the opportunity.
"What will it take for the ANC to self-correct?"
