ANC suspends Mpumalanga treasurer Mandla Msibi over misconduct

The ANC in Mpumalanga on Wednesday announced the suspension of its provincial treasurer, Mandla Msibi, for misconduct.

Mandla Msibi to resume ANC duties on Tuesday

Provincial ANC secretary, Muzi Chirwa, told a media briefing that Msibi was found guilty of violating the party’s constitution, and a decision was taken to suspend his membership for three years.

Two years have been suspended provided Msibi is not found guilty of the same offence in that period

In January, Msibi, Sibusiso Bhuda Mdluli and Mandla Mhlanga were temporarily suspended after they allegedly threatened to sabotage the ANC’s birthday celebrations.

The trio demanded that President Cyril Ramaphosa meet with them in Pienaar on the day of the January 8 celebrations.

The announcement comes after the trio appeared before the party’s disciplinary committee.

Chirwa added that Mduli, who served as Msibi's chief of staff, has been expelled from the party.

“Having looked at all the issues in terms of the provincial disciplinary committee, we have arrived at a sanction that the membership of Mandla Msibi be suspended for a period of 3-years and the operation of the 2 years be suspended for two years on condition that he is not found guilty of similar offence during the period of suspension.

“On all the counts that were pressed against him, he is found guilty, and the sanction of Sibusiso is expulsion from the ANC with immediate effect.”
