On Thursday, Thabo Arafat Molamu and others approached the court on an urgent basis seeking the court to, on the eve of the congress, to stop the conference alleging that there were irregularities in auditing of branches.

The court ruled that the application was not urgent and dismissed it with cost.

The National Task Team (NTT) of the ANCYL welcomed the decision of the court to dismiss the interdict.

“It has been the view of the NTT from the onset, that there were no grounds for the interdict based on supposed, unresolved disputes. The NTT has endeavoured to ensure that all disputes were resolved by an independent team that received all disputes from all provinces and dealt with them impartially,” the NTT said in a statement.

The NTT said there were internal processes to resolve disputes.

“While in principle we don’t have a problem with people approaching courts for recourse, the organisation has its own internal processes to resolve disputes and the failure by anybody to utilise this, suggests a malicious intent as is the case on this matter.”

The court ruling meant the ANCYL conference would continue as planned on Friday, in Midrand.
