ANCYL lays criminal charges against Mahlangu
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The ANC Youth League in Gauteng has laid criminal charges against former Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu.
It comes in the wake of a damning report on the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of 94 mentally ill patients after they were moved from Life Esidimeni to various unlicensed NGOs.
The EFF also laid murder charges against Mahlangu as well as Gauteng Premier David Makhura this morning.
Provincial ANCYL Chairperson Matome Chiloane says the decision has nothing to do with the ANC, who governs the province.
"It's an issue of accountability from government. It's not about the ANC. The ANC is fine. Those people who are deployed in government must come and account. They must not only account to us as a structure, they must also account to our people," says Chiloane.
The ANCYL in the province has also called for the resignation of Premier Makhura.
