According to a statement by the Minister, a new strategy has led to the South African Police Service (SAPS) arresting six people wanted in connection with aggravated robberies.

The new strategy is intelligence-driven and involve visible policing.

"These highly specialized tactical teams will continue to intensify operations until we are satisfied that we have everyone that is terrorizing fellow South Africans while committing cash in transit  robberies and related crimes," reads the statement.

The latest arrests bring the number of people nabbed for transit heists to twenty-one, over the past two weeks.

On Monday, cash-in-transit guards embarked on a strike with marches across the country, where they demanded better protection by police.

"Allow us to shoot and kill robbers" and "We are tired of fighting AK47s" were some of the comments made by the transit workers.
