Anti-Trump protesters take to the streets

Five people were shot in the US city of Seattle on Wednesday night, local media reports.

Two of the victims had life-threatening injuries, the Seattle Fire Department wrote on Twitter.


A rally against US president-elect Donald Trump was moving along nearby streets at the time of the shooting, witnesses told the Seattle Times.


However, the Seattle Police Department said on Twitter it believed the shooting was not connected to the rally. 


According to the Seattle Times, witnesses described hearing several gunshots before police responded.


Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Seattle.


Meanwhile, thousands of protesters marched through the streets of New York.


In Oakland, police reportedly fired tear gas to disperse protesters.


Protesters also gathered in front of City Hall in Los Angeles. 


Thousands of protesters also gathered at Trump Tower in Chicago.
