Association lays criminal charges against SAA
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
The South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) will be laying criminal charges against members of the South African Airways (SAA) board and management.
SACCA briefed media on alleged corruption and irregular expenditure which they claim amounts to more than R1 billion.
The association's Feroze Kader says they believe the management has to be held accountable.
It claims millions have been siphoning off from the company, despite maintaining they might not have enough money to pay salaries.
"There is major corruption going on at SAA. Reports we have furnished to media houses state the irregularities that are experienced by all employees at the company in term of looting. They are looting in excess of R1.8 billion," says Kader.
SACCA President Zazi Nsibanyoni says the association feels it has exhausted all other efforts to address these issues and they can no longer keep quiet.
"Our jobs are on the line. Our livelihoods are on the line. We cannot sit back and watch years from now knowing we could have done something and we did nothing," says Nsibanyoni.
