Babes Wodumo urged to lay charge
Police commissioner Khehla Sitole has urged musician Babes Wodumo to lay a criminal charge against fellow artist Mampintsha.
A video emerged on Sunday evening showing the kwaito star beating his girlfriend.
The video was posted by Babes on her Instagram live feed, before being deleted.
In a statement, the police say the video is being analysed to establish the identities of those involved in the video.
Spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says the commissioner has ordered the police to trace the whereabouts of Wodumo in order for her to give a statement.
"It’s really vital and critical for Bongekile Simelane, known as Babes Wodumo, to come forward and provide us with a statement as well, that will add tremendous value to the criminal investigation," says Naidoo.
“A senior member from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has been dedicated to investigate this case, which case will be overseen by a major general who is the national head of the same unit.”
