Bail application of alleged Karabo Mokoena killer postponed

The bail application of Sandile Mantsoe has been postponed to next month in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court.
Mantsoe is accused of killing his 22-year-old girlfriend Karabo Mokoena.
He was charged with premeditated murder after Mokoena’s burnt body was found in Lyndhurst.
Dressed in a red jacket and jeans, Manstsoe appeared calm while shocking details of Mokoena’s death were revealed in court.
Magistrate Karen Labuschagne earlier barred the media from reporting on his affidavit after both the state and his defense argued against the live broadcasting of the proceedings.
"This is a bail application and not a trial. The court must weigh up the rights of freedom and expression and the rights of the accused. It would not be in the interest of justice to record or print any of the bail proceedings at this stage" she said.
A small group ofrotesters outside court called for Mantsoe not to be granted bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority's Phindi Mjonondwane says the broadcasting and printing of evidence delivered in court can jeopardise a case.
