Officials from Johannesburg emergency services have recovered the bodies of young boys in a stream in Diepsloot, north of the city.
The bodies of the three boys, aged 8, 9 and 10 years old, were discovered on Monday afternoon.
Joburg emergency spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says the circumstances that led to the drowning will be investigated.
“Residents are urged to monitor young kids to stay away from river streams to prevent drowning incidents. Water levels in most of our river streams are high due to the rainfall we received over the Easter weekend, young kids might be tempted to go play next to these river streams.”
