The body of a sixth illegal mine worker was on Monday evening brought to the surface at the Langlaagte mine shaft.

According to the Joburg Emergency Services, a fifth survivor was also rescued late yesterday afternoon after which the search and rescue team decided to suspend the operation for the day.
"The miner's body was recovered at around 22:00 last night and it was brought to the surface at around midnight," EMS Spokesperson, Synok Matobako told Jacaranda FM News.
It was quiet outside the Langlaagte mine on Tuesday morning with no indication if the search and rescue operations would continue.
Emergency Services told the media that it would seem as if all the trapped miners were recovered.

"The rescue team tried to search for other bodies as the illegal miners insisted that there are more people in the abandoned mine, but the search and rescue team couldn't see as it was very dark," Matobako said.
The person who was rescued late on Monday is in a critical condition in hospital.
The illegal miners are all facing criminal charges.
"We are now waiting for instruction from the Department of Minerals and Energy," he concluded.
