Body of unidentified man found in Vaal River
A body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found in the Vaal River near the Ascot-on-Vaal Bridge on Monday.
ER24 paramedics said they responded to the scene, along with Search and Rescue, after receiving reports of an apparent drowning in the area.
"Upon arrival, rescue teams and paramedics began searching the area and banks for the patient. Unfortunately, after some time, the search was called off due to poor lighting conditions," ER24 said.
Emergency personal returned to the scene early in the morning and continued the search for the patient.
After several hours, the body of the man was found, but the man showed no signs of life.
He was declared dead on scene.
"It is unsure whether the man fell or jumped off the bridge, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations," ER24 said.
