Limpopo police say the suspects, aged 24 and 28, would solicit CVs from job seekers, offer them work and then request between R2500 and R3000 for uniforms and employee ID cards.

The suspects, a Zimbabwean and South African, are not Sars employees.

However, the South African man had been an intern at Sars in 2012.

"On face value, the cards which have photos and IDs of potential employees, appear authentic as they bear SARS emblem or logo. The uniform, a T-shirt also has similar emblem," says Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

Police managed to confiscate the fraudulent cards and uniforms from the suspects' office in the CBD.

The suspects will appear in Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of fraud.
