Bonang Matheba tax fraud case postponed
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Television personality Bonang Matheba appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in
Johannesburg on Thursday in connection with tax
fraud.
Matheba is facing 15 charges after she allegedly failed to file her tax returns from 2008-2017.
Last week Thursday a bench warrant was served on the socialite after she failed to appear in court.
A bench warrant is an inactive warrant of arrest, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Gauteng spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says the state ran into problems last week as the summons were not served personally to Matheba but to her legal team.

Mjonondwane says the court had ordered the warrant be held to give Matheba chance to attend court proceedings.
Matheba duly arrived in court on Thursday amid a media scrum.
The case has been postponed to November 14 to allow her legal team to make representations.
