HOTTEST DAY IN PRETORIA'S HISTORY: The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of extreme heat over most parts of the country, with Pretoria possibly reaching the highest daytime temperature ever. According to the SA Weather Service's Mbavhi Maliage, if Pretoria reaches a high of 38'C, it would be a new record.



She says they will be monitoring the temperatures today. This while South Africa is facing elnino conditions this year with the Department of Water and Sanitation confirming that there is already a water shortage in the country. Various suburbs in and around Johannesburg and Tshwane have already imposed water restrictions between 6am and 6pm daily.

POLICE UNION TO PROTEST OUTSIDE COURT: The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union is expected to protest outside court in support of the four Krugersdorp police officers who were arrested for the killing of a suspected robber last month. The incident was captured on CCTV camera and the footage has since gone viral. Officer Dineo Chipu was charged with defeating the ends of justice and granted bail of R5,000 last week, while her co-accused remained in custody facing an added charge of murder. Silindelo Masikane reports. 

SENTENCING UNDERWAY IN TODLER RAPE & MURDER CASE: Pre-sentencing proceedings are set to start later this morning against Sarel du Toit, who yesterday plead guilty to the rape and murder of his 4-year-old niece. Jasmin Pretorius was attacked in her father's home on the 27th of December 2013, and after a frantic search by the community her uncle admitted to what happened and her body was found under his mattress. Maryke Vermaak has more.

PASTOR TURNED SUPERHERO: He is a pastor on Sundays and a superhero every other day. A Pastor from South Dakota in the US, has taken it upon himself to make his community a better place. "Captain Kindness" as he calls himself, spreads goodwill across North Dakota by either helping someone cross the street or even paying for people's pizza. Other times he simply takes the time to say hello.

TWITTER POLL: A century old painting by Amedeo Modigliani has sold for more than a $170 million at an auction last night. The painting, known as "The Reclining Nude" was painted in 1917 and 1918 and caused outrage when it was displayed in Paris almost a hundred years ago.
