Cash-in-transit heist leaves one dead

A security guard was shot and
killed during a cash-in-transit heist in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday
morning.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says an unknown number of suspects pounced on security guards who were collecting money from a butchery on Commissioner Street.
Makhubela says one guard was collecting cash while ten others were waiting inside the vehicle. The suspects opened fire before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

No arrests have been made and investigations are underway.
This heist is the latest in a series of cash-in-transit heists in Johannesburg.
Two security guards were also shot this past weekend during a cash-in-transit robbery in Cosmo City.
