Caution urged on Gauteng roads as final holidaymakers return
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
Gauteng Traffic Police has called for vigilance and adherence to traffic laws as holiday traffic peaks on Sunday.

The last batch of holidaymakers is set to return home today as schools reopen on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Sello Maremane says they are expecting congestion on several major routes.
"Heavy traffic flows are expected on the following routes: the N1 Polokwane to Pretoria, the N4 Mpumalanga to Pretoria, the N4 Rustenburg to Pretoria, the N12 Mpumalanga to Johannesburg, the N3 Durban to Johannesburg, the N2 Bloemfontein to Johannesburg, and the N12 Potchefstroom to Johannesburg."
Maremane highlighted several road safety tips motorists and pedestrians should follow amid the heavy traffic flow and rainy weather conditions.
"Motorists must check their vehicle before undertaking any journey and should observe safe following distances and adhere to speed limits.
"Parents should securely hold their children's hands when crossing busy intersections and pedestrians must use designated crossing points."
