CCMA intervenes in Eskom wage dispute
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) says Eskom, the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and Solidarity have all accepted its offer to assist in the Eskom wage dispute.
The Director of the CCMA, Cameron Sello Morajane confirmed that a senior commissioner has been appointed to facilitate the talks scheduled for Thursday.
This comes after the NUM said it's 15 000 members would continue with a wage strike at the power utility from Wednesday, despite Eskom obtaining a Labour Court interdict last night.
The NUM members are demanding a 10 percent wage increase for the lowest paid employees and 8.5 percent for the highest paid employees at Eskom as well as a housing allowance of R3000.
