Cele 'not privy' to details of cash heist at Ramaphosa's farm

Police Minister Bheki Cele says he is not privy to the details of investigations into claims of kidnapping, bribery and theft at President Cyril Ramaphosa's farm in Limpopo.
Earlier this week, details emerged of an incident of theft at one of Ramaphosa's properties in Limpopo in February 2020.
The allegations were made by former State Security Agency director Arthur Fraser, claiming Ramaphosa deliberately concealed the crime.
On Wednesday, Fraser opened a criminal complaint with the Rosebank police against Ramaphosa
Later, the Presidency confirmed the robbery but rubbished claims of criminal misconduct on his part.
Ramaphosa added he did report the incident to the head of the Presidential Protection Unit of the South African Police Service for investigation.
On Friday, Cele declined to give comment on the merits of the investigation.
"There are no cases that are reported to me, nobody reports cases to me. They investigate, take them to court and many of those cases I also see in court," Cele told journalists at a media briefing on crime stats in Pretoria.
"But like all other cases, they will be investigated. But these national commissioners and Hawks don't report to me which case and who they are investigating. I usually hear from them when they give the reports to the portfolio committee. People must disperse this notion to say that the minister knows about the investigation of cases and who are about to be arrested, it doesn't happen that way," he added.
Further claims of evidence, including footage, have since emerged, while the incident has also raised questions about Ramaphosa's security detail.
Some in the political arena have described the case against Ramaphosa as a bid to overthrow him in the build-up to the ANC's national elective conference in December.
