Child (10) killed in shooting on Ficksburg farm
Free State police have launched a manhunt for unknown gunmen who shot and killed two people, including a 10-year-old boy, on a farm in Ficksburg on Sunday.
The armed suspects stormed the house on Sunday night and opened fire randomly, injuring six others.
Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli said the suspects fled shortly after the shooting.
"Police and emergency personnel were called, and on arrival, the 10-year-old boy was declared dead at the scene, and six others, aged between 12 and 50, were rushed to the hospital.
"On Monday, investigators received information that the 19-year-old girl also succumbed to injuries.
"The suspects fled the scene on foot and got into an unknown car that was parked on the side of R26 road near the farmstead. Cases of murder and six counts of attempted murders are being investigated."
The motive behind the shooting is not yet known.
