Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
City Power has decided to has suspended all its planned maintenance due to the latest bout of rolling blackouts in Johannesburg.
Spokesperson Isaac Mangena says infrastructure needs to undergo regular maintenance work to ensure that networks are working at an optimum level.
Some of the areas scheduled for maintenance included Rooseveldt Park substation, Gressworld substation, Alexandra and Halfway Gardens substation.

"However, due to load shedding announced by Eskom, it would be difficult to do maintenance on the infrastructure without interruptions and safety concerns.
"We also feel it would be unfair to inconvenience customers twice over a long period."
Mangena says work at around 11 sites across the city, which would have been done on Monday, could be halted as well.
"These remain doubtful and we await Eskom to indicate how long load shedding is expected to continue before making a decision."
