The South African Weather Service says a cold front is expected to hit Gauteng on Saturday.
It has warned residents to brace themselves for adverse weather conditions over the next few days.
Forecaster Venetia Phakula says the cold front will result in cold and windy conditions from Friday afternoon.
“We have several cold fronts passing over the country, there is one passing Thursday night and another one passing Saturday, Gauteng will mostly be affected by the one passing on Saturday. The impact will only be the drop in temperature.”
Phakula says some snow is also expected to fall.
“Snow is also expected this weekend over the mountainous areas of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Sutherland in the Northern Cape, and Lesotho.
“However, it is normal because we are at a transition of seasons, by next month it will be getting warmer.”
