Coligny farmers to go on trial in March
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The two North West farmers accused of killing a teenage boy in Coligny are set to go on trial next year.

The trial for Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte has been set down for March.
Community members have dubbed the farmers the 'sunflower murderers' following allegations that the pair killed Matlhomola Mosweu in April after he allegedly stole sunflowers from their fields.
Doorewaard and Schutte faces charges of murder, intimidation, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, theft and pointing of a firearm.

The National Prosecuting Authority's Frank Lesenyego says the accused's bail has been extended.
"The pre-trial conference was concluded today in the Mafikeng High Court. The date of trail is set for two weeks in March. The accused's bail has been extended 'till trail."
The death of the 16-year-old triggered violent community protests in Coligny, a repeat of which Lesenyego says will hopefully be prevented "as the trail was transferred to the North West High Court".
