Collins Letsoalo derailed at Prasa
Updated | By Laila Majiet
Acting Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) CEO Collins Letsoalo has been given his marching orders.
He has been removed from his post, amid allegations that he gave himself a 350% salary hike.
Prasa board chair Popo Molefe says: "This was a position of a conman. He was not an employee of Prasa. We don't have the powers to discipline him, so we are sending him back to the transport department."
Earlier today, Letsoalo hit back at a Sunday Times report which claimed that he gave himself a massive pay hike.
He briefed the media in Pretoria, saying he wanted to "set the record straight."
But Molefe says the board took the decision before the Sunday Times report.
"When irregularities happen to the extent where there is a misrepresentation about the board's decisions, the most prudent manner in which the board could deal with it is ask the man to go back to his employer."
